I'll admit that I missed the *insert sponsor here* Holiday Bowl last night. By all indications it was your typical pre-New Year's bowl game, with one team slightly worse on defense than the other (Texas beat AZ State 52-34). That is, until you see this play.
Video can be found here, but what happened was on a backwards pass by ASU QB Rudy Carpenter about to go out of bounds, some guy on the Texas sideline named Chris Jessie (whose apparent coaching title is "Mack Brown's stepson") tries to reach out and grab the live ball. Luckily he must not have been a very good shortstop in high school because the ball bounced right over his hands, and Texas recovered and returned it a distance. However with the use of instant replay the refs caught him, and gave UT an unsportsmanlike penalty, and the ball back to ASU, who scored on the next play. Since Texas ended up winning easily, everybody can laugh it off and have a good day. (Photo: AP)
In other news, people are in a tizzy over some TAMU guy making a comment at a pep rally about putting Joe Paterno in a casket. Obviously this isn't a tasteful comment, but I can excuse the man's ignorance and laugh it off. All Penn State fans know that *if* JoePa dies (he may be immortal), he will be above these average man "casket" devices. He should obviously be embalmed and put on display in the HUB next to that old mule Coaly.
Paterno's response was classic:
ReplyDelete"Maybe he's accurate, I don't know."

ReplyDeleteI love how the A&M crowd boos the guy too. First off, I agree and can laugh it off but two, I really don't understand how even a twisted minded person would find that funny. Like...he's old but in very good health...whatever, i'm looking into it too much
