Jets making a splash

For once, the Jets are deciding to get active on the free agent market. Yesterday, it was announced that the Jets signed long time Steeler Alan Faneca to a 4-year deal. Now all the Steelers fans are telling me 'oh he's old and will break down.' That may be so but at least having him around to anchor/mentor our young O-line could pay off big dividends in the future. Either way, he's 1000x better than whoever we would plug in at guard last year.

The Jets also dealt for Kris Jenkins. There were some questions about his work ethic and commitment in Carolina but that doesn't worry me. He was in the dog house there and really just needed a change of scenery. The hope here is that he can be a force in the 3-4 defense next year. He certainly has the size to be the NT (6'4", 349lbs) but the jury is still out whether he can adjust. Time will only tell but if he can make the adjustment, don't count out the Jets next year.

Lastly, the Jonathan Vilma era in New York came to an end as he was traded to New Orleans for a conditional 4th rounder. While I'm slightly upset we didn't get more for him, the fact of the matter was he just didn't fit. He's not well suited to the 3-4 and he sadly just had to go. Either way, I'm glad that the Jets are actually getting the necessary pieces for the 3-4 now rather than trying to convert 4-3s.

LEAVE CALVIN PACE ALONE!!! He is Miami bound.

Anyway, nice signings. The AFC East has been the most active division...and the Patriots have done nothing!!! HAHAHAHA! Down with New England.

You'll enjoy Mr. Faneca. And I'm very pleased he didn't go to the Ravens/Bengals/Browns/Patriots.
