Adenhart made his MLB debut on May 1, 2008. He had spent most of his professional career at AAA Salt Lake. Last night was just his fourth start in the majors. (MLB.com)
A red minivan reportedly ran a red light and hit Adenhart's silver Mitsubishi, causing it to hit a light pole. Three others were in the car with the young pitcher who had just made his fourth MLB start the night before. Two of those passengers have died.
The driver of the minivan fled the scene but was later apprehended. He is being charged with felony hit-and-run, among other things.
Adenhart pitched six shutout innings versus the A's in L.A. Wednesday night. He gave up six hits while striking out five on 98 pitches.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Adenhart's family and friends as well as the Angels organization.
