The first three games were SPECTACULAR. Florida was controlling the game entering the 4th quarter and was up 21-7. Tennessee stormed back to tie it. They even had a shot at the lead with under 2 minutes to go but Daniel Lincoln missed a 34 yard FG (his third miss of the day). Tim Tebow then orchestrated the winning TD drive. Tebow crossed the goal line with 26 seconds remaining.
For the second straight week LSU was taken to overtime but emerged victorious (I'm telling you, those two triple OT losses earlier helped). This game was back and forth the entire night. USC took a 28-24 lead on a Booty to Turner TD with 5 minutes to go in the 4th. LSU would respond with a clock eating drive culminating with an Alley Broussard TD with less than 90 seconds to play. However, USC returned the kickoff 40 yards and David Buehler connected from 42 yards out (his only successful attempt of the game) to tie the game as time expired. LSU scored a TD on their first possession and the LSU defense broke up a Booty to Fred Davis pass on 4th and goal from the 4.
Continuing the trend, Illinois and Georgia was captivating. Georgia had Illinois on the ropes early, vaulting to a 24-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter. They entered have leading 24-7. Illinois responded in the 3rd and early 4th when they tied the game at 24. Georgia would go three and out their next three drives. On the third three and out drive Georgia downed their punt inside the Illinois 1 yard line. Illinois fails to gain more than 3 yards and on 4th down the Bulldogs block the Illinois punt and it goes out the back of the end zone for a safety...with 1 minute and 27 seconds to go in the game. Wow.
Unfortunately, the West Virginia/Oklahoma game did not finish as strong. Well at least West Virginia didn't. The game was very close going into the half. Oklahoma held a 17-14 lead. Not much went right for WVU in half number two and Oklahoma catapulted into the Final Four.
The new bracket is at the bottom of the post after the Round 2 awards. Speaking of which...
