Conference tournament predictions: Northeast

The NEC is traditonally one of the stinkier conferences in Division 1, but this year one school has played very well and risen to the top: Robert Morris! Yes the Colonials, from suburban Pittsburgh, have won 13 straight to finish with a 16-2 conference record, and also have a key non-conference win at Boston College. Obviously their location has won them a sentimental place in my heart, but these guys could give a big team a scare. First things first, though: if they can't win the conference tournament the only teams they'll be scaring will be in the NIT.

The format for this tournament is a little different: it follows the NHL Playoffs style, where the highest seed will play the lowest seed in the second round, etc.

FIRST ROUND (higher seeds host all tournament games):
1 Robert Morris
8 Monmouth

4 Mount St. Mary's
5 Quinnipiac

3 Sacred Heart
6 Central Connecticut State

2 Wagner
7 Long Island

SEMIFINALS:
1 Robert Morris
6 Central Connecticut State

2 Wagner
4 Mount St. Mary's

CHAMPIONSHIP (can be seen Wednesday 3/12 on ESPN2):
1 Robert Morris
4 Mount St. Mary's

Go Bobby Mo!
