Quick Free Agency Update

Here's what has happened in the NFL over the last 24-36 hours...

  • DE/DT Chris Canty has signed a 3-year, $9 million deal with the Giants.
  • Safety James Sanders has resigned with the Patriots. It's the same deal as Canty's.
  • WR prospect Michael Crabtree has decided to undergo surgery on his foot on Wednesday, meaning he will never run for scouts prior to the draft.
  • The Broncos have signed another former Dolphin, inking CB Andre Goodman to a 5-year, $25 million deal. Denver had previously signed Miami castoff safety Renaldo Hill.
  • The Redskins have cut DE/OLB Jason Taylor.
  • Versatile offensive lineman Russ Hochstein has resigned with the Patriots. It's only a 1-year deal however.
  • Free agent CB Ronald Bartell has spurned the Saints to resign with St. Louis. It's a 4-year, $28 million deal.
  • WR Nate Washington, formerly of the Steelers, has signed with Tennessee.
  • T.J. Housmnazadeh has finally settled on a team. It's the Seattle Seahawks.
  • The Buccaneers have begun to fill the void left at linebacker after the team released veterans Derrick Brooks and Cato June. Niko Koutouvides, recently cut by the Broncos, had been pursued by the club last year when Koutouvides was let go by the Seahawks.
  • Switching schemes isn't easy. The Broncos have added someone that should help. Defensive end Ronald Fields, previously with the 49ers, has signed a 2-year, $5 million deal with Denver, who will be utilizing the 3-4 defense in 2009.
  • The Dolphins have released DE Vonnie Holliday and are poised to sign former Raiders center Jake Grove.
