The NFL released their 2009 schedule last evening and heading into the season Miami has, based on last years results, the hardest schedule. Here's a look.

The Dolphins are scheduled to play four prime time games, two on Monday night, one on Sunday night, and a Thursday night game. The Monday and Thursday night contests are guaranteed to go on as planned however the Sunday night match versus New England on December 6 is part of NBCs "flex scheduling" option and could be bumped if one (or both) teams are faring poorly.

It's nice to see the Dolphins back on national TV, though the Thursday nighter is on NFL Network a week before Thanksgiving. Unless Comcast and the NFL resolve their differences and end this pissing match, I won't be seeing that game.

The latest game in a cold-weather environment is November 29 @ Buffalo; Miami has been spared trips to New England and New York during December. Very nice! Although they do play them on the road back-to-back weeks to start November, could be a slippery slope to climb.

The season finale is against the Steelers. Unfortunately it is in Miami so no trip to Pittsburgh this year. Miami's home opener is hosting the Colts on the seasons second Monday night game.

Overall I like the schedule. I am assured of seeing Miami play at least twice, possibly four times, not including any regional coverage. It is a tough one a year after rebounding so things may shake out a bit different in '09. Looking forward to the season. Go Dolphins!
